welcome to Stacking.
Start small. buy 999 fine silver close to spot like coins/rounds/bars.
Buy slowly and steadily.
Shop multiple reputable dealers liek JM Bullion, SD Bullion,Monument, Hero etc.
Sometime we get the best deals in the LCS.

Start with Costco. JM and SD are way overpriced.

I'd cap it around 35% instead of half. Depending on how much we are talking about, if you are trying to put under a million, you can probably get quite a bit done via online retailers over a few orders each (JM, SD, Kitco, Apmex, and a couple other big ones). Costco whenever they have stock. Then check your local shops in Chicago. I would imagine you have a few. Go with 1 ozt or higher. Get started now since it's probably not the best idea to do it all in one or two months. Get a baller safe and a gun with compatible stock of ammo.
Then again, how are you going to get your retirement funds? I would imagine a hefty tax bill trying to do this over one year.

I own thirty of these coins. SDBullion sells them and it just says "random mint" so I don't have any clue which mint. One oz silver rounds.
"Silver Buffalo Rounds reproduce the famous design created by James Earle Fraser for the Buffalo Nickel coin, also known as the Indian Head Nickel or the Silver Buffalo coin. A reviewed version of this classic design also stamps the[ 24k Gold Buffalo Coin](https://sdbullion.com/gold/american-gold-buffalo-coins).
The obverse depicts a Native American bust that joins the characteristics of three important Indian tribes: the Two Moons, the Iron Tail, and the Big Tree. The only inscription on this side is “LIBERTY,” which arches in front of the Indian’s face.
The reverse design corresponds to the image that names the piece. It is the image of an American Bison, resembling a Buffalo, hence the moniker.
On the upper rim, the engravings describe the round’s weight of 1 oz silver, and on the bottom, they express purity and metal content.
# Random Mints
Random shopping may be an interesting option for investors who are more interested in bullion than its brand. SD Bullion has a comprehensive inventory of 1 oz Bullion Silver rounds of at least .999 fine silver with lower premiums over the silver spot price.
Mints may vary according to our stock availability at the shipping moment, but we guarantee an original American Buffalo One Troy ounce round..."

SD bullion gives you a choice to get either 5oz of of silver or 5grams of gold at spot. Monument Metals and Hero Bullion offer 5 1oz Silver buffalo rounds at spot and Provident Metals offers a 10oz silver bar at spot as well.

SD are snakes.. I was buying my first piece of gold from them and I picked “bank wire” but I found out my bank doesn’t have that option.. so within 2 minutes of placing the order I asked to cancel and they send me their terms and condition which say they’ll basically charge you hundreds of dollars and send you to collections if you don’t do the bank wire. And it says they have the ability to cancel, they just choose not to. I kind of get it when you’re dealing with thousands of dollars.. but I was buying a small amount to test SD and how they work and they showed theyre just scumbags. JM Bullion is better. SD is just shitty people

Some people would “help” you right off a cliff istg.
I would go to usmint.gov and grab some buffalos and check the major suppliers to see what deals/first time promotions they have like JM, SD, APMEX
Start with coins not rounds. Stick around and you’ll learn more

Call SD Bullion and discuss rolling your retirement plan, or a portion of it, into a Precious Metals IRA. I believe you can avoid potential tax consequences and still benefit from future Gold/silver price growth. Good luck.

Hero Bullion, Monument Metals and SD Bullion are good places to buy. I would suggest 1oz government minted coins and maybe 1 or 2 ounces of fractional like half and quarter oz.

APMEX is always expensive. SD, JM or believe it or not, Scottsdale Mint on eBay are cheaper.

Local shops always want to buy under spot. I'd like to sell at spot or even over. Looking around at Kitco, JM Bullion, SD Bullion, MoneyMetals, etc., my price beats them all by a thousand dollars.

Clearly, I can sell to you guys, and we both get a better deal. I plan on slowly selling my stack off over many years so I am here for the long haul to make friends and good deals. I am willing to provide my phone number and or meet in person for cash deals which I prefer for obvious reasons. Please be patient with me guys, I am still learning, any suggestions from the PMsForSale pros would be welcome & appreciated.  Thank You!

Tax efficiency is based on a persons circumstances and I hate it when people say dividends are not " tax efficient" or there's a "tax drag". I fired 9 months ago and will not pay federal income tax again until social security. I can make up to 131.1k before I pay fed tax based on my SD ( mfj) and the 98.9 ltcg/QD exclusion. Not only can I make that amount with dividends, I also invest in MLP's which are tax deferred so I can make more. Paying 0 fed tax is very tax efficient. If you're set on dividends in a taxable account look at your own tax circumstances.
