I played with puts on each stock, trying to get a cheaper entry point. Once I was happy, I began writing aggressive puts looking for assignment. I continued writing more slightly OTM puts in the chance to average down even more, and eventually got a good cost basis.
As an example, my AMD right now has a cost basis of $36, and am planning to exit around $130-135 range. Not bad for 6 months! My TSLA costs about $26 (after all my premiums). AMZN @ $84, GOOGL @ $86, META @ $125.
The strategy is (generally) working for me; still learning to tweak it it here and there.

AMD, AMZN, DDOG, GOOGL, MARA, META, TSLA are my regulars.
Yes, it ties up capital, but it suits my retirement needs.

Well, you invest in things that were good in the past. MSFT is not bad. NVDA is in a bubble. META is bad. The rest is okay.
So buy them. Set a stop loss for -10% per company. Once you are up 10% on a stock, set the stop loss to +4% than you bought it.
Or invest 50$ per month, and invest more if you 'red' and less if you are 'green'.

TD was instant. I guess I was spoiled. Bought META under $90 with a lot of capital. Same with WEN at $16. I wouldn't have been able to do that if I had to wait a day. I'll have to look into using margin. Never did that before.

* **Historical Move v Implied Move:** We determine the historical volatility (log variance of daily gains) of the underlying asset (HV) and compare that to the current implied volatitlity (IV) of the option price. This is used to determine the Call or Put Premium.
* **Expiration:** 2023-06-02.
* **Call/Put Pricing:** How much extra you are paying for IV relative to HV. Low numbers mean "cheaper." High numbers mean "expensive." A 1 means "fairly" priced.
* **Efficiency:** This the bid/ask spreads and the depth of the order book relative to the price and approximates the cost of a round trip trade. Lower numbers are less efficient than higher numbers.
* **E.R.:** Days unitl the next Earnings Release.
* **Direction:** This ranges from -100 (bearish) to +100 (bullish). It accounts for RSI, trend, moving averages and put/call skew over the past 4 weeks.
* **Why isn't my stock on this list?** It doesn't have "weeklies", the underlying is "too cheap", or the options markets are too illiquid (open interest) to qualify for this strategy. 480 underlyings are used in this report and only the top results end up passing the criteria for each filter.
* **How should this be improved?** Do you have any suggestions or notice any bugs with this report?

* **Historical Move v Implied Move:** We determine the historical volatility (log variance of daily gains) of the underlying asset and compare that to the current implied volatitlity (IV) of the option price. This is used to determine the Call or Put Premium associated with the pricing of options (implied volatility).
* **Directional Bias:** Ranges from -100 (bearish) to +100 (bullish) and accounts for RSI, price trend, moving averages, and put/call skew over the past 6 weeks.
* **Priced Move:** given the current option prices, how much in dollar amounts will the underlying have to move to make the call/put break even. This is how much vol the option is pricing in. The expected move.
* **Expiration:** 2023-07-07.
* **Call/Put Premium:** How much extra you are paying for the implied move relative to the historic move. Low numbers mean options are "cheaper." High numbers mean options are "expensive."
* **Efficiency:** This factor represents the bid/ask spreads and the depth of the order book relative to the price of the option. It represents how much traders will pay in slippage with a round trip trade. Lower numbers are less efficient than higher numbers.
* **E.R.:** Days unitl the next Earnings Release. This feature is still in beta as we work on a more complete list of earnings dates.
* **Why isn't my stock on this list?** It doesn't have "weeklies", the underlying is "too cheap", or the options markets are too illiquid (open interest) to qualify for this strategy. 480 underlyings are used in this report and only the top results end up passing the criteria for each filter.

You're in the wrong subreddit.
For far more financially savvy responses and discussions, there's r/financialindependence, r/Bogleheads, r/personalfinance, r/investing, etc.
Regarding your main question, VOO tracks the S&P 500 which already includes US large-cap growth and US large-cap value companies blended together.
VGT tracks an index of only US tech companies so it doesn't include companies like META, GOOGL, AMZN, etc, since those companies are not classified as US tech.
On the other hand, SCHG (and equivalent VUG) track US large-cap growth companies so it tracks more companies than VGT since its reach is wider.
It's clear you need a grasp on what you're actually attempting to invest in.
I'm blown away you lost $375K with LUNA.
Best of luck.
If you care to learn more, good start are the side bar links at r/investing, r/personalfinance and the Bogleheads Wiki:
https://www.reddit.com/r/personalfinance/wiki/commontopics

Google the terms: Risk Management, Bogleheads new investor, tax efficient investing, asset allocation, modern portfolio construction, Recessions and investing.
As someone working in finance, I've come to learn over the years that if you're still in the accumulation phase of life prior to retirement, it's a good idea to get your first $100K-200K in some broad blended stock index fund that mixes growth and value, that mixes non-dividend payers and dividend payers. Good example would be VOO (S&P 500) or any total US stock index fund. This move prevents underperforming the broader Market when starting out.

META is playing the role of AI spoiler. They’re doing cutting edge R&D and unloading it onto the open source community. Google, Microsoft, and OpenAI are not going to capture this.

As long as those keep going up, SPY will keep going up. And they may keep going up for just long enough that the real market recovers and the other 65% start going back up. 🤷‍♂️

So I feel this does not warrant a self post, but I would love to get some advice from people who know what they are talking about.
Let's say I want to take $5,000 in personal savings and divide it into tech companies for a long-term hold, and invest more as time goes on.
* I am wanting these companies: NVDA, AAPL, META, MSFT, AMD, GOOG, AMZN and I want to divide them up.
* I am currently employed in the United States.
* As for objectives: I am looking for long-term growth and I believe keeping money in something such as tech companies today is better than leaving it in a checking/savings account.
* Time Horizon: I would want to be able to access this money depending on the standings after the next 5-10 years. Like I said earlier, start small and invest more over time, as this would be my first time investing.
* Risk Tolerance: Really not looking to possibly get hurt here. I am not looking to day trade to gamble a few thousand into something else.
* No current holdings, this is absolutely my first time investing. Very new to it all.
* No big debts, no large expenses
Basically just trying to get my foot in the door with a long term hold into big tech and to learn a few things along the way. Surely once I understand things a little better, I will probably find my way into day trading on a similar scale but I figured I would start off with the safe bet and just looking for advice. Thanks for reading.

SMCI continues to rip due to its AI partnership with NVDA and server sales to META. I’ve recommended it each week here since it was $88. Now it’s $227 with more room to grow.

Tesla below 200 is free money. It’s gonna follow META, NFLX, AMZN to recovery.
