Q4/Q1/Q2 comps for CMG/SG/CAVA: https://pbs.twimg.com/media/GyMSJaIWAAAmOY6?format=png&name=small. Meanwhile, cheap pizza: https://pbs.twimg.com/media/GyMjr87WMAARsI8?format=jpg&name=large
Seems like people are trading down and a lot of fast food names have been obliterated lately.
JACK -60% YTD, WEN -37%, CMG -28%, SHAK -17%, PTLO - 14% (-78% from IPO a few years ago), DIN -30%, SG -70%, CAVA -26% (ytd before earnings), TXRH -2%, QSR -1%, LW (fries) -20% YTD, etc.
Positive (at least for now): DRI +10% (unlimited breadsticks), YUM +6%, DPZ +1%, PZZA +6%, MCD +3%, EAT +12.5%, CBRL +9%, BROS +22% (although down about 20% from earlier this year.), CAKE +28%, WING +17%.
IMO, CAVA was a bubble at $140 (and locations valued at $56M or whatever it was at the peak), it probably gets overdone to the downside (especially in a difficult environment like this, moreso if it gets worse.) Any time a consumer growth story decelerates it's significant. I mean, WING has had two declines of 50%+ in the last 5 years. SHAK IPO'd about a decade ago and has returned about 140%, but shareholders have had to sit through three 60%+ declines and three 30%+ declines. Could have done better with less stress just owning the index or even WMT over that time period.
Good luck. Hope it does well/that the macro doesn't get worse.

Have you been to a MCD's recently? They've jacked up their prices so much since Covid that I can go to a sit down restaurant for the same price.
No, I don't want to use their app to get discounts.

Yeah I don’t normally recommend fast food chains other than MCD but they do make money and I need to diversify my portfolio away from just Tech and boring stocks that I run CC campaigns on. I was actually looking through earnings of restaurant stocks to decide if I wanted to Buy Puts on CAVA earnings. The premiums from that will give me these WEN shares for free……assuming I get assigned at $10 and $9

I own MCD and will continue holding. Outside of index funds it is my second largest holding and I like it for the dividends and the defensive nature when the overall market trends downwards. I am quite confident in MCD in the long term and their recent earnings release was very positive. I actually think MCD will continue to grow earnings at a good rate for many years to come - number of locations are increasing at a healthy pace and as most of these are franchised/licensed they will be high margin stores for McDonald's Corp.

Ok, but 19x P/E for MCD is undervalued, no?
We're talking 11% EPS growth rates...
Edit: EPS is actually growing at 12%, not 11%. Any higher, and we are almost talking tech stock territory.
