I fell for this and it did not end well. I had an old friend move from an engineering role to what turned out to be a sales role for IG. Turns out he changed roles because he was found incompetent as an engineer and later proved to be incompetent at IG.
He pulled the "i am just starting out and could use your support" bullshit. I checked it out and there was little to no risk of losing my money so i did it.
Ultimately he made a mess of our account and could not answer even simple questions. He had a thin skin and often cried when chellenged or pressed. He could not separate friendship from business. I got lucky in that it was hard to lose money last year and IG overall did well, but i will never forgive him.

I just want to clarify my understanding of transferring out, after reading the FAQ and this subreddit.
Transferring out is only possible if the broker appears in the drop down in the transfer section (and only displays in the 'transfer in' section. I saw Halifax and Interactive brokers, ... was IG there? Are these three OK for in specie?
It won't work if there are fractional shares. Presumably I could buy/sell micro amounts to only have whole shares and this would completely solve the problem?
ISAs can only be transfered complete. General account can be partial. Use the identifying data in the transfer section and initiate the process from the receiving end. T212 charges no fees but the receiver might.

Any advice before starting? Any other broker you recommend? I'm searching for a broker who allows me to paper trading.

I joined them via an introducing broker and later when I tried to apply for the future permission... I passed the test with highscore (very good knowledge) but refused, no reason provided. After waiting for a month I asked IBKR and they told me "ask your Introducing broker (Prorealtime)". I asked the IB and said "ask the operating broker". That was nonsense going on. I heard one of the requirements is to provide $25K but this is not official, it is stated nowhere.
At a different broker for CFD (IG) I had to file a statement about my financial situation and my knowledge about trading in leverage, got approved and that was it. Same game with the future broker where I am right now. Passed the test, verified my photo ID and the bank account, thats it.

Although Rddt is 1/50th of Meta I don’t think it’ll ever reach Meta’s DAU. This is due to the nature of the content. Reading as content consumption is a bit too hard and needs an inherit “want” to consume the content. Users should have the preference for it. Often times I run into people who say “oh yeah I should start using reddit” but never run into people who say “oh yeah I should start using IG”. Reddit has got that intellectual appeal but hard for users to stick to unless the interest is intrinsic. On a spectrum of ease of content consumption I’d put Reddit on the far left, Twitter somewhere in the middle, IG, ytb shorts, TikTok to far right.
