Vanguard ETFs are fine, and they have a large selection of them. Fidelity has fewer ETFs but has some interesting ones such as FELC, FMDE, and FSMD that are essentially like some of the purely indexed ETFs offered by Vanguard with some intelligent enhancement. They are called Enhanced ETFs and have higher costs than similar Vanguard ETFs but seem to usually perform enough better to justify the cost. I've been satisfied with them. Fidelity also offers an interesting "Basket" service for $4.99 a month that works with ETFs and Stocks.
