If I were a trader, I would probably trade the stocks on momentum, but I am skeptical that there is high profitability in these companies.
Just because the government is involved, doesn’t make it a wise investment in my eyes. For example, farming is subsidized by the government, and these businesses are barely surviving.
Totally agree that it is needed for national security, but my view is that the industry will be propped up and there is not a ton of money to be made here, unless society is willing to accept a huge price hike on goods… since REE basically goes into most consumer products.
It’s possible that I am jaded as well. I have been burned by mining stocks in the past (CLF, VALE, FCX, B) and just avoid the sector altogether at this point. I would have done much better in these names if I had just traded them instead buying and holding.
