We're at 18 consecutive months of falling rents across Canada, a 31 month low. Slowed immigration and TFWs has resulted in real cost of living changes. In my city, showing up to a rental viewing now results in landlords saying "make me an offer."
They removed federal restrictions on interprovincial trade, which is what the federal government itself can do. They can't stop Ontario from refusing BC wine, that is up to the provinces.
They continue to streamline reviews with "one project, one review."
https://esemag.com/infrastructure/canada-ontario-sign-agreement-to-streamline-environmental-reviews-for-major-projects/
> The Ontario agreement is the third of its kind for the federal government. Similar deals have already been signed with British Columbia in 2019 and New Brunswick earlier in December. Consultations with Manitoba and Prince Edward Island have concluded, with agreements expected to be finalized, while negotiations with Alberta are ongoing and targeted for completion by April 1, 2026.
Again, you have to negotiate with provinces here.
The productivity crisis is not quite what people think, and revision in GDP have reduced it.
https://www.theglobeandmail.com/business/article-economy-stronger-footing-trade-war-statscan-revisions-show/ (archive link https://archive.md/ESESb)
>GDP per capita has declined since 2022, as the surge in immigration pushed up the population faster than the growth in economic output.
You have to understand what this means: the denominator changed as there were more people in Canada. They were new Canadians who, like pretty well immigrants in history, won't hit their economic stride for some time. That's just how it works when you're getting established somewhere. What it does _not mean_ is that you, as an established Canadian, took a pay cut or a decrease in your quality of life.
The same is true of productivity, which is GDP per hours worked, and is subject to that increasing denominator. You are probably going to see both shoot up as we now have flat or slightly declining population.
All these things take years to see a difference in. They would take years under the NDP, the Conservatives, or the Greens as well.

Been covering Canadian small and mid-caps since January. Thought it was worth doing an update on how the thesis has held up across the names I've initiated on.
**Hammond Power Solutions (TSX: HPS-A)** — Published April 2nd, BUY, $230 price target. Up 23% to an intraday high within four days of publication. Analyst consensus sits at $235.
**Stack Capital (TSX: STCK)** — Initiated near $17 in January. Hit $29.50 intraday this week. Up over 50% from coverage.
**Zedcor (TSXV: ZDC)** — Initiated February 25th. Q4 results just confirmed the thesis — revenue up 79% year over year, EBITDA up 82%, US fleet grew 296% in a single year.
**BQE Water (TSXV: BQE)** — Initiated January 29th, BUY reaffirmed this week with updated $95-105 CAD price target. Currently around $63. Full year results drop April 23rd. 20-year BC Government contract went live in January. Trading at 8x EBITDA while environmental services peers trade 12-18x.
**NamSys (TSXV: CTZ)** — SaaS monopoly in Canadian cash management software. $11.2M net cash on a $32M market cap. Mexico revenue growing 60% YoY. Zero analyst coverage.
**Savaria (TSX: SIS)** — Accessibility solutions, aging population tailwind, global platform. Still watching.
Not every name has moved yet but that's how research works. The thesis doesn't expire in the short term.
All of this is on The Venture Analyst on [Substack](https://yonatanbrunshtein.substack.com) if you want to go deeper on any name. Not investment advice.

Are you serious? Property rights are a core foundation of our entire economy and society. And Eby just gave it up. Lol
Im not defending Ford so much as pointing out that standard issue canadian political corruption (our leaders have been making back room deals for decades) pails compared to the fact that BC is a less attractive place to invest or own anything because we dont know who owns the land anymore. Lol

That's exactly what the small business venture tax credit is.

S&P global ratings have Bc at an A so don’t know what to say there. There are different ratings so we can be looking a different ones. Energy, mining natural gas infrastructure to rapidly grow the economy and drop deficits. Investments right now are going into natural gas, look at Columbia. Rapidly growing right now because of their massive investment into their natural gas fields. And tax credits to small business in BC not tax credits across the board. Do you have an opinion at all or just challenging mine? Do you actually think the NDP is doing a good Job in BC because the facts show the exact opposite

lol let’s not put words in my mouth with that nonsense garbage. The NDP healthcare system is just as bad as other provinces lol. Should BC be losing 19000 jobs last month after our fifth downgrade during the NDP era? BC law society calling out EBY for his gross overreach and trying to have government officials as part of the board when the law society was created to not have government oversight. If you cannot see what a terrible leader EBY is and how dysfunctional the NDP party is not just for BC but for Canada I cannot help you. There is a reason they are not an official party and already one MP has crossed over to the liberals. They are just a joke period all you can really say

BC had among the lowest debt to GDP ratio and among the lowest unemployment rates like the rest of the west in AB and SK. You can comically see the shift and departure of BC's economic well-being compared to heir neighbours at the same time the BC Liberals lost and imploded leading to an NDP government. And despite being an NDP government, their healthcare is just as bad if not worse than their provincial counterparts.
