Good morning and happy Saturday everyone. I hope everyone had an amazing 4^(th) of July.
I wanted to go over PRGS because the stock collapsed from 70 after earnings just days ago.
By the numbers, surface, this is a tech software company, had an awesome quarter! You would think this should trade at over 20x. Or over 100 per share! The financials are ok, getting better, they are bringing in value, but is not the best… because over the last 2 years they made 2 large purchases:
February 2023 They purchased MarkLogic for 355 million
September of 2024 They purchased Sharefile for 875 million

This is in the present state. There is no reason why this company paying down debt, buying back shares, good free cash flows, good growth in Sales and EPS should trade at 10x. NO WAY!
Although these 2 buys will indeed affect the balance sheet short term, long term they can add sales/earnings and they can then pay off the debt accumulated. With the stock getting rocked it now has a 2.3 billion market cap.

Over the last few years they have purchased back 250 million in shares. They have also paid down debt of 50+ million and will pay nearly 100 million more by years end. They are also adding value with the huge increase in EPS and Sales. These 2 major buys, if you check year over year and quarter over quarter growth took some time. I believe the market has not taken any of the facts into consideration. Now that I know the MA, the added value of the MA, I can see the actual execution on these additions my new fair value:

PRGS
5.33 x 16x earnings = 85.28

The PE ratio is near 10, for a software company!
They purchased close to 250 million in shares from 2022, 2023 and 2024.
In 2025 they made an additional 50 million in buybacks. 20 million in Q2. They have an authorization for 57 million left under their current buyback plan. They have been paying down debt a lot this year, which is very good, they expect to pay down an additional 100-150 million. They are modeling for free cash flow of 228-240 million.
Numbers:
2022 Sales 602 million           Earned 4.13 Per Share
2023 Sales 694 million           Earned 4.35 Per Share
2024 Sales 753 million           Earned 4.93 Per Share
2025 Guidance and what has been delivered
2025 Sales 962 million           Earnings 5.28 to 5.40 per share

Lastly accordingly to Morningstar this is 80%+ owned by institutions or over 35 million of the 43 million shares! Insiders also own shares, this puts actual floating/tradeable shares at likely 5-6 million! There are currently 5 million shares short.

Please share ideas, I would like to know ideas for or against PRGS I like to brainstorm with communities. Thank you.

I'm gonna be 66 next month and I too am new here (posted 1 thing to get it off my chest)
Leave this Forex for these young people & let them bash their heads around trying to be "Consistent" -they can handle the pressure-the losing-& the multiple mistakes---whereas WE will catch a "Heart Attack" trying.
And FOR WHAT?--grinding it out DAILY to make 30% ($3,300) end of year?
If you follow the Nasdaq-pick a direction- do 1 MNQ w/100 point stop ($200) -then dump it when you're up 1500 pts (15-1). "Set it and FORGET IT" u should know who said that.

Try it 10x -odds are WAY in your Favor u will catch 1... & with some Luck ( or a VERY Good read) maybe 3x!

Use the time to do what U LOVE - not what u Like (golf -surf- travel- go to Strip clubs... doesn't matter what--as long as you LOVE IT!!!)

I’m the last person to judge, but if you’re entire happiness (or lack thereof) is based on MVIS stock price for that day, you clearly have bit off more than you can chew and invested way more than is safe or prudent. There’s comments about people having 50% of their net worth in a highly speculative stock. This seems crazy to me.
We all believe in MVIS and its ability to succeed but life is WAY too short to be sitting waiting for news. I have over 300k shares but it’s less than 10% of my investable assets so if it goes to shit my plan isn’t de-railed. And if it rips up then I’ll be super
happy for me and everyone else on this board.
Just a friendly reminder to keep things in perspective and know what really matters in life!

Hahaha you are living in a dream world. The free market would evolve into even more increased cash into the hands of billionaires. Without regulation and someone to prevent abuse of the population by companies, we'd be in a WAY worse spot. Politicians suck, but companies in charge, aka the free market, would be so much worse for society.
Quit your cordial bullshit you fucking corporate shill.

10 dollars above market price and it expires on Monday?? Do you even understand how options work? It only becomes profitable if it approaches your strike price and the theta goes high enough before expiration. If you’re buying calls that expire in a week or less? You need to be WAY closer to market price for SPY. $10 above market price is just too high.

All good points that I mostly agree with. Although, personally, I don’t think DC/ACO Reach was as much of an abject failure as you say. I don’t know that we would be as far along in Counterpart progress as we are now without the massive ramp-up in lives under management that came with the huge growth we saw in DC/ACO Reach. This is all speculative and maybe they lost more money there than they ever anticipated but I think the data they were able to get a hold of for Clover Assistant as a result of these programs was vital. Also, when CLOV was going heavy into DC/ACO Reach they were at the tail end of the ZIRP era, and profitability was WAY less important than growth at that time. Then once the regime change happens, CLOV couldn’t exit these programs overnight, but I think they exited as quickly and responsibly as they could.

Yes, this would happen to me a lot because I am literally obsessed with trading. I cannot stop talking about it to friends and family( they probably think I'm autistic with how much I talk about it).
I've been humbled many times when I would talk about how I'm going to be a making 10k a day and basically getting overly excited from it all.
Now lately after years of practice, watching YouTube videos, reading books, putting in work like this is a second bachelor's degree, except it doesn't feel like work. I love waking up everyday to trade and am actually sad and look forward to the days I can trade (right now I'm only day trading us equities. Today I can't trade because markets are closed for the 4th but wish I could!
I still say I'm going to make 10k a day and get excited, but I haven't been getting humbled in the same way before which is essentially major losses wiping out a months gains. I still get humbled , but now my losing days I know are part of the game and WAY smaller than they used to be.

$25-$30B. Oh, damn…that’s rich.
Well, if anyone ever wondered why their iPhone retail price is well north of $1000, here’s your reasoning!
So Siri, this thing they’ve had for WAY too long, came to her “sugar daddy” and said…daddy, I need a face lift because I’m feeling really ugly and no one likes me anymore.
And daddy said a going to give her $25-$30B on something that may or may not work.
Classic.

1. Poor customer service, especially if you need to speak to an agent urgently about a real time issue.
2. Commissions are not as cheap as some may try to portray, even in the tiered pricing. Definitely compared to other US based brokers.
3. Too many order routing options (smart, direct exchanges, etc.) which turns my orders process to be WAY too long.
4. Using an ‘All or Nothing’ option is terrible and usually leads to orders not getting fulfilled (this never happens to me with other brokers).

He needs to scale WAY down on his position sizing until he can show a profitable trading strategy with consistency. Sounds like he is chasing the $$ now rather than learning to trade. Do NOT give him a big ass sum of money thinking that will solve the problem and magically make him a better trader. It will only be lost and then his head will be in a much worse place.
Gold & BTC are two of the hardest assets to trade imo..especially if there is leverage involved.
