I am not suggesting anyone go short, I just added it to my comment to make my bias clear.
1. Buyers who believe in Elon - agreed, but those would be split between TSLA and SPCX
2. Starlink is legitimately impressive- true, but is it worth $1.7T?
3. Index fund buys - russell, msci, nasdaq inclusions behind us in jun/jul and the stock fell 7% on that day. Russell has a float adjustment in dec but that is offset by the dec 8 lockup expiry. S&P500 would be the big one but that’s not on the table until GAAP profitability for 4 quarters. In short - no meaningful index buys to rescue the stock
4. Elon goal shifting - agreed, this is truly unpredictable
Net- I am comfortable with the short positioning, I could be wrong but the supply argument feels compelling.

The last sentence is the sentiment. I guess I'm worried I'm holding onto single stocks that could lose value in 10 to 20 years (especially TSLA) when i could just have cashed out half of my stocks to reinvest into more long-term holds like SPY or VOO. Or does the capital gains tax just negate that in general?

I wish I would've invested in TSLA back then but I got caught up in the negativity of the detractors. I'm not saying Elon is perfect, but reading these anti-Elon responses is comical. It's like the gas lamp lighters dragging Edison or the horse carriage operators torching Ford. But we get it, you probably have TDS, and despite not creating anything of value or doing anything meaningful in your own life, you think anyone who has had any type of success and achieved any level of notable wealth must just be a talentless hack and moron who only secured their achievements through lies and deceit.

The TPUs are now v.8 since launching in 2015. Good reporting that OpenAI, Anthropic, Apple and Meta are all commited to the TPU as a big savings on inference. The GPUs are awesome for current tasks but a lot of baggage for inference. This accelerated with the ridiculouos speculative HBM market which had led to three SK companies representing 30% of their stock market. Can you say bubble? Alphabet with the specialized v8i (inference focused) TPUs architected a solution dependent on SRAM which further accentuates the pricing differential. Even NVDA has no choice but to raise prices to cover the HBM components. If you architecture is general and it REQUIRES HBM this is just another reason to at least run the numbers with TPUs. A big jackpot for BroadCom also! Alphabet profitability in GCP has led to a $462B backlog. When the economics are this good for GCP even buying excess compute from xAI has become sensible. TPUs are a golden goose. It will be interesting in Q2 earnings whether Alphabet makes some progress on the GCP backlog which all by itself nears 5 years of TSLA revenue! If it drops a lot then maybe it is time to temper expectations -- we will see.

Short TSLA. Something wrong with the entire Asia factory output. All deliveries cancelled and physically recalled.

But why now? Why not buy in after the next 50% dip, which is almost guaranteed to happen.
Same with TSLA, there will be a 50% dip if people want to accumulate shares around 200

OP asked “which would you buy”… I said which one I bought
But for fun, I’ll answer a few of your other questions
Who I am - doesn’t matter
What’s my experience - been investing since 2009
What’s my knowledge - also doesn’t matter… I fix surgical robots for work
What’s my portfolio look like - literally… why does any of this matter… I own CLOV, RKLB, QQQ, VTI, TSLA, and GOOG
How many years have I been investing - 17 years… also why does this matter?
What’s my salary - $75,000 base with OT… also why tf does this matter?

I have been investing in my job 401k and my personal roth/IRA's for the past ten years. I've earned about 75k in total at age 29. I'm doing decent with my income now going from 40 to 72k a year. I've originally just invested for retirement and to basically never sell anything until I'm around retirement age. However, I feel like I've missed growth opportunities with some of the single stocks I've owned like TSLA or RKLB to reinvest into other stocks. I'm not losing money from selling, but it feels like I'm losing money from holding long-term.

Should I just not attempt to get back into trying to invest in single stocks, or just use this extra cash I'm earning to invest in ETFs? I'm not trying to be a day trader, but there are times I look back in hindsight that I could have sold RKLB at $150 when I bought everything at $20. I know this probably is a common theme, but I usually see people either try to day trade or plan around building a family/owning a home. Which are two things that don't fit me personally.
* How old are you? What country do you live in? 29 and USA
* Are you employed/making income? How much? Yes and 72k
* What are your objectives with this money? (Buy a house? Retirement savings?) Retirement and using it to fund lifestyle.
* What is your time horizon? Do you need this money next month? Next 20yrs? 5 Years to 20 years.
* What is your risk tolerance? (Do you mind risking it at blackjack or do you need to know its 100% safe?) I have an aggressive approach to investing. I have a high risk tolerance.
* What are you current holdings? (Do you already have exposure to specific funds and sectors? Any other assets?) Biggest single stock bags are TSLA, NVIDA, RKLB, and AMD. I have some holdings in SPY, VOO, and QQQ. I need to look back in my personal account.
* Any big debts (include interest rate) or expenses? No Debt.

TSLA cult is stubborn. Not sure why. It reports profits the stock shoots up. It reports losses the stock shoots. Hertz announces a feelt stock pumps. Hertz announces they are selling all Trslas. Stock pumps. I mean the stock literally only pumps.

I believe in what they do and the future they offer. I also really like their leadership. Similar to how people are willing to buy TSLA just because of Elon hype.
