You should read about smoot hawley, how it was implemented,   and the circumstances that led to it being instituted. It's already turning out completely different.  China is the only country on earth where the effects are similar to smooth hawley, but they did drop about 25% of their retaliatory tariffs already, and they've barely started negotiating!
Different US  economy, different global economy, different tariffs, etc. Pretty much every country in the world uses tariffs.  Some have used them with enormous success.  It's not as simple as choosing an extreme example from the great depression and claiming "this is what happens if you have tariffs".
>Blatantly ignorant of the concessions the US made in trade negotiations with Vietnam by previous administrations to get them to abide by RIAA and MPAA copyrights.
??? So you think the US is going to allow Vietnam access to the US market if they start breaking rules?  You have to read at least a little.  The US market supplies 30% if vietnam's entire GDP.  Why do you think Vietnam instantly offered to drop tariffs to zero?  The US could destroy the Vietnamese economy if they don't cooperate.  See how that's different than what happened during Smoot Hawley?   Back then, massive set tariffs, no leverage, no negotiation.  It's the opposite of now.
>Complete idiots. The lot of you.
Why not read news, learn what is actually happening in the world outside of Rachel maddow's head, or something you saw in an old movie.

Now that’s all out the window. Conservatives will always cut off their noses to spite their faces. They have zero understanding of history’s achievements.
You were given an apt description of how tariffs impact out economy in a popular movie when Ben Stein, a conservative, explained what happened to our economy after Smoot-Hawley. But, ya’ll act like it’s this new idea that will make everybody rich.
Complete idiots. The lot of you. No wonder we have geniuses like RFK Jr running HHS and Hegseth over the military. You’re intentionally trying to destroy the country.
