I can't answer your question about return offers, but I know a bit about the firms themselves. I don't work at Jane, but I work at one of the big places and I know a number of ex-JS people. All my ex-JS colleagues have a lot of nice things to say about JS and very few criticisms. They left because they wanted to make a big step up in their careers (ie running a group), but none of them really have anything bad to say about it and at least one of my colleagues clearly regrets leaving. He talks quite fondly of the place.
For the ex-Jump people, I think the consensus is if you're not in JCS ( jump core strategies, their largest group), then your group will have a hard time and get second class treatment. Most of the money at jump is made by very few groups, and the rest eat breadcrumbs from what I've heard. Jump makes tons of money, but it's a very fat-tailed distribution.
Unless your offer is from JCS, I would be inclined to take the Jane St offer.
