Most day traders lose all their money so there's nothing to tax. Many, many studies show that a TINY percentage of day traders (1-3%, depending on the particular study) can beat a simple buy-and-hold strategy, and something like 10-15% can maintain ANY profitability over a 6-month period. The other 85-90% lose money.
So... even if you really really want to day trade, it's better to do it in a taxable account so you can claim the capital loss.

I don’t think the justices will allow ANY tariffs. Gorsuch and Barrett asked about powers that cannot be delegated by Congress to the executive branch, so I think this line of questioning implies that they believe that tariffs are taxes and thus cannot be delegated. Any statute allowing them, however narrow, would be struck down by such a ruling.

That's really fuckin awful. Does your employer not have ANY 401k matching whatsoever?
There are +/- 0% funds you could have been shoving money into that are safe as can be.

I am going to try and answer your specific question directly:
Why doesnt everyone just sell covered calls?
1). As the seller you are OBLIGATED to sell the stock at the strike ANY time BEFORE expiration. So, if the stock outperforms your “assumption” (2years, $15) you have lost that upside potential. Thats why you got a “premium” up front. It could go up to $30 next week with new announcements, economic conditions, buyout, regulatory issues, etc.
2). The buyer of your Call is more bullish and thinks the underlying asset (stock) will appreciate quicker and/or higher. You on the other hand have taken a kind of bearish approach where you don’t think ANYTHING can make this stock pop higher than $15 in the next 2 years. So you pre-capped your profit potential.
3.) If you have no buyer of this call it is a moot point.
4.)This is basically a trade off between risk and reward for both the seller (you) and the buyer.
I am new to options and this was a great “thought process “ opportunity. I am certainly open to corrections, additions, debate, etc.

> I also don’t think the entire world is conspiring to steal my gold at any moment
I'm sure that all of the people that had cash, gold, assets, etc stolen by the government through civil asset forfeiture didn't think the entire world was conspiring the steal their assets either. Just the fact that the government in the past said you must surrender your gold would be enough for me not to trust it in the bank. If they signed an executive order tomorrow saying gold must be surrendered banks would let them search all of the safety deposit boxes if they were told to.
>or that there is ANY storage method for gold that has no downside risk.
Of course but personally would rather just have it on hand. If you think a bank is less risk it's defiantly your choice though.

HI, I’VE BEEN DOING THE SAME FOR THE PAST YEAR. I’M NOT A PROGRAMMER, BUT AN ASPIRING TRADER. I ALSO TRADE MANUALLY AND HAVE SUCCESSFULLY CRACKED A FEW PROP ACCOUNTS BY HAND. MY CURIOSITY ABOUT AUTOMATION PUSHED ME INTO CODING. IN THE BEGINNING, IT WAS TOUGH WITH MY LIMITED KNOWLEDGE, BUT AI TOOLS BECAME THE KEY THAT HELPED ME BRING IDEAS TO LIFE. NOW, I’M ABLE TO CODE AND EXECUTE ANY LOGIC I CAN THINK OF.
MY DREAM IS TO BUILD A MONEY-MAKING MACHINE — AND I’M SURE I’LL CRACK IT SOON. I MAKE AND TEST AT LEAST ONE STRATEGY A DAY WHILE RUNNING ONE LIVE TEST IN PARALLEL, INCLUDING SOME CRAZY DIRECTIONAL STACKING SETUPS WITH TRAILING STOP-LOSS LOGIC TO MAXIMIZE PRECISION AND CONTROL.
NOW TIME HAS TO PROVE WHETHER I’M ON THE RIGHT PATH OR NOT.

I'm kind of just surprised no one else seems to know about this, in the wake of Modretro stuff this week.
GB Studio is possibly the most beginner friendly, accesible video game design tool ever made. You literally do not need to know how to code. I'm not kidding when I say an 8 year old could make a fully playable GB/MR game with it.
It's also quite easy to then rip the game onto physical cartridges, throw some sticker art on it, and sell it on ebay or whatever. You do not need licenses for ANY of this, as far as I'm aware.
There is already a bit of a community for this stuff, but I am surprised there has been no discussion of it here. Gamestop "officialized" the Cursed Cartridge game, for various reasons, and probably because it was more expertly crafted from assembly language up by an actual dev, but that does not mean it's not quite easy to make a decent game with GB studio, and let your imagination run wild with really no special kinds of expertise needed.
If Gamestop leans into this community in a way where it becomes a marketplace for indie devs to share their GB studio games and even mass produce the cartridge flashes of the better ones, I could see it becoming a huge deal for the retro gaming community. I mean, being able to make, test, and sell your own game on ebay or something is already a super cool and rewarding appeal of the handheld retro fandom as a whole, but if Gamestop enables indie devs to actually see their games hit physical store shelves, I could see it being an absolutely explosive community.
Just food for thought. I'm surprised nobody here even seems aware of GB studio or all the patent/rights/licensing/selling freedom around the GB platform as a whole these days.

I'm 28 and started trying to actually build wealth last year after spending my early 20s just vibing and being broke lol. Naturally I turned to the internet. Reddit, twitter, tiktok, discord servers, everywhere people talk about stocks. Read everything I could find. Detailed analysis posts, dd threads, discussion forums, all of it. Here's what I realized after 12 months of this. I have literally no idea if ANY of these people giving advice actually invest. Like zero proof. Some random account posts a thread about why palantir is undervalued. Sounds smart. Has upvotes. I buy it. Stock goes down 25%. Did that person even own shares? Were they just writing to just get engagement? No clue. Happened over and over. The same usernames would pump different stocks every single week. How do you have the 15 highest conviction plays??? bro pick one. The photoshopped gain screenshots were the worst. Like we can all tell that's fake, why are you even posting it. Worst part is I KNEW it was probably bs but kept doing it anyway because I didn't know what else to do. Can't afford a financial advisor. Didn't want to just buy index funds because that seemed boring and I wanted to beat the market. Finally believed I was basically gambling based on anonymous internet comments from people who might not even have brokerage accounts. Started looking for places where people actually show what they own before giving advice. Makes such a huge difference when you can see someone's track record before deciding if their opinion matters. Has anyone else gone through this phase of blindly trusting strangers on the internet with your money? How did you figure out who was legit?

I used to have the ability to choose from a mix of funds, and I chose a simple 2065 target retirement fund. Based on that funds performance YTD it would of returned around 22%, however my account has only returned 12%.
Is there anyone with any insight that could explain why this mix of funds could produce any benefit over a target fund in the long term? The target fund was a Total Market/Bond mix and it seems like this portfolio is overcomplicated for the effort. Does ANY of it really make any sense?
Help me wrap my noodle around this one.

If you are still employed where the 401K is you cant use the 401k money. Also consider investing inside of a Roth Ira first and not a cash account. Your contributions can be withdrawn at ANY time without penalty, not the gains, just your contributions. If your new brokerage account is a cash account you better learn the Wash Sale rule.

I have a higher standard - this country is crazy rich even with its problems, no CEO should be making 500 times what their employees are paid REGARDLESS if its livable for the employees. 'Livable' sounds like the bare standard for decency, why can't we do better?
I oppose ANY concentration of wealth in few hands because wealth is power. Over and over it breaks the system. Wealthy people will buy influence SOME way, and use it to concentrate MORE wealth, in a vicious cycle. Inequality begets MORE inequality - which is exactly what's happened decade after decade in the U.S. The wealth funnel upwards is staggering.

This is a matter of usage - they suck because they fall so incredibly short of US brokerage standards....they are pathetically inferior to any other platform I have used - ANY other. They are literally the BOTTOM of the barrel of platforms, woefully inferior and pathetically weak when lined up against even the WORST US online brokerage platform. I can not recommend any more highly AGAINST using this platform. Do yourself a favor and RUN! Don't walk away from this "platform" - it's 25% of it's closest competition. The WORST of the worst.
