If you're using BTCPay server, you can also accept LTC private payments via MWEB using the plugin available on the plugin catalog. It's already been in production for 6 months on the official Litecoin Store, and 3 months on Cake Pay, so it's pretty reliable.

That is a good question. It was hard to put a timeline on it.
The dream happened in 2020, I’ve been feverishly buying LTC ever since in anticipation.

For years, Litecoin has been one of the biggest coins in crypto by market cap and adoption, yet holders never had a way to put their LTC to use. With the ETH etfs inflow we can see that institutions care a lot about staking. A layer 2 called LitVM is launching soon and it will bring the possibility to stake and lend litecoin which is HUGE. For the first time, 7 million LTC holders will be able to access:
- On-chain rewards through staking and lending protocols
- Cross-chain yield by moving stablecoins and assets between Ethereum, Bitcoin, and Litecoin seamlessly
- New opportunities from early dApps, DeFi platforms, and even meme coins launching on LitVM
LitVM will enable a full ecosystem to be built on top of the Litecoin Mainnet. I can see a lot of liquidity flowing in once this gets traction. Ill leave a link below to their links.

My mom was in Assisted Living for 13 years. She had a gold-plated LTC insurance policy with annual increases in daily allowance and no premiums paid while in residential care. She was an example of why you can't buy those policies now.

Once upon a time I could pay for beers with BCH, and that actually worked since 0-conf is supported and fees are negligible. There are other currencies that work just as well (LTC, DOGE, etc). BTC isn't one of them.

There’s still some rich markets to tap for directed/endorsed treasury/ecosystem plays, like with MEIP and LUXX. I think we will see many copy cats in the US and Canada, and then serious institutional acquisition leading into and after the ETFs are approved. LTC makes even more sense for a treasury asset vs other crypto, especially non-fortune 500s…but they should definitely join the party too. I think it’s going to be a slowly then all at once type thing

$LTC Litecoin is a wolf in sheep's clothing... Don't sleep on it. Look into "LitVM". Soon to be implementing smartdefi and staking etc... 84m max supply... Mineable... Merged with $DOGE... Time tested... ETFs filed... Decision 8th October... Treasury deals being done as we speak. Not far off all time low in $BTC price... Litecoin is the right coin 👌

Average length of care being close to a year is entirely compatible with the median being a week. The median person in the data set you linked actually spent no time at all in LTC outside the home, and may not have used any paid care at all (it's unclear what the overlap is between paid in-home care and out-of-home care).
The more recent data is not helpful anyway because COVID had such a significant effect on nursing home mortality.
My numbers are from this RAND study, which uses older data but makes projections for future use: [https://www.pnas.org/doi/full/10.1073/pnas.1700618114](https://www.pnas.org/doi/full/10.1073/pnas.1700618114)

Mirror to Bitcoin but better. Psychological resistance to BTC price is coming and LTC is the next in line legacy PoW for price appreciation.

Well, American companies are adopting it. That's what America is, right?
- LTC is present on all major exchanges and at all crypto ATMs.
- It's the 3rd most popular crypto for payment transactions after BTC, and USDT, with a 13.6% market share (showing consistent growth from 9.5% in 2023). Ahead of giants like Ethereum and USDC.
- It's in several IRA products on the US market (Fidelity, BitcoinIRA, BitIRA, IBKR and few more).
- 3 ETFs in the works by SEC - CoinShares, Canary Capital, Grayscale.
- Grayscale's Litecoin Trust LTCN has started a couple of years ago already.
- CoinShares Physical Litecoin ETP has been operating since 2021 (and there are at least 4 other Litecoin ETPs around the globe, but the globe is not quite America yet as of writing this).
- MEI Pharma (with Citadel's backing), Luxxfolio, Thumzup have LTC in their treasuries and they invest in Litecoin in other ways, too.

Such a long tread and I saw (I think) only one mention of Long Term Care Insurance. Am I in the minority here that believe in LTC insurance? While I do not expect it to cover everything if I ever get into that situation nor expect Ritz-Carlton type amenities, I view it as an added help to at least protect some of my assets for my spouse and kids.
LTC insurance is quite expensive particularly if you start later in life but it also accrue some value if not used during your lifetime. At least it gives me some peace of mind that hopefully my family don't get wiped out by some bad luck.

Statistically speaking, most people who need LTC will end up on medicaid level care. The cost is fuckin outrageous. Facilities for dementia patients in my state range from high 5s to 7k a month for an average facility. Just a few years would wipe out the average americans retirement, assuming they're entering the facility later in life. These places are designed to siphon family wealth, it's pretty ridiculous.

You will want LTC insurance. This will help with nursing homes. Also look into an irrevocable trust.

Thank you for that! Wish I would have known that years ago, along with a few of my friends who thought that was the case. I will forward your reply to them. Regardless, I have reinvested in LTC just last week due to the Luxxfolio press release. I feel much more confident in the decision now!

It’s called a Medicaid asset protected trust. You put assets in a trust so in the event of a major event and ltc is needed for whatever reason you don’t need to spend down assets to pay for ltc. LTC is about $14k per month in my state and Medicaid kicks in with total assets of $10,000.

We were using $120,000 per year -- which sounds like a ton, but it isn't that much more than my budget for spending in retirement anyway. Plus once you get shuttled off to LTC/the memory care unit, your other expenses basically stop. You aren't traveling, buying your own food, paying to maintain your home, etc. Since I'm single, I don't have to worry about a spouse or partner needing support while I'm in care.
Ideally I would die before needing long term care, but I'm not counting on it.

Having spent a little time around a local LTC facility after my dad had a stroke, I definitely hope my wife and/or I never have to stay in the kind of place that Medicaid will cover. We never had kids, so we'll be on our own should we find ourselves in need for LTC. I'd like to stay in a nicer facility, and am counting on using our own savings and investments to fund it if it comes to that. Obviously we're not concerned with leaving an inheritance. But I know I'd sacrifice any potential inheritance from my mom for her to use the money she has left to stay in a nice facility if she finds herself in that situation.

I haven’t researched it myself yet, but I’ve heard that the LTC plans available on the market today don’t have good coverage and aren’t worth it - lots of loopholes and limited coverage.
