Hello there!
Don’t worry your IOTA isn’t lost. Wallet apps/extensions are just interfaces, your tokens are still on the Tangle.
If you moved from Firefly to the new wallet, you just need to reinstall the correct wallet app. IOTA is not a Chrome extension anymore

Lol I was big into Nano back in 2017, sold it in 2020 at a small profit and not touched any crypto since. How far has the tech moved since then, in terms of use and real-world application? I remember DAG's like it and IOTA falling off at the time

Easiest way was following:
If you go into Firefly start screen and select your account, before you type in your PIN you klick on the top right on "..." and than "Backup Seed". Type in your password and copy the Back Up seed.
Now you can go into Chrome Browser and download the new IOTA Wallet. Create a new account and chose the option to import the account from Seed. Now you paste the seed from FireFly and your IOTAs will appear as balance in the Chrome IOTA Wallet.
