Hey everyone. Long story short I'm new to crypto. My coworker/buddy got me into it and I'm trying to gather as much information as possible to make the best decisions possible. Virtually all of my investing is retirement based (S&P 500 for my forecasted retirement year) coming directly out of my paycheck from my employer. I felt like crypto was a good opportunity to have different things in my portfolio. Therefore, I have a couple of questions
1.) What are you guys liking the look of moving forward (besides BTC). Between reddit and friends who seemingly know what they're doing,
I hear a lot about XLM, XRP, ICP, LINK, HBAR, and ALGO.
2.) What criteria do you consider when investing in particular coins?
3.) Where do you get your crypto news/insight from besides reddit?
Hopefully this post doesn't seem too rudimentary. Appreciate any help and insight!

Love the ALGO pick. They are building for the future. I’d just sub ADA for HBAR

I just started investing in January, my goal is to put most money in XEQT and then focus on canadian stocks that revolve around LNG. I have made a few mistakes but plan to sell and correct them.
% of Portfolio | Return % | Name (Ticker)
0.34%% | -58.11% | Light AI ( ALGO )
16.43% | -1.72% | Canadian national resources, Ltd. (CNQ)
4.21% | +2.19% | Canadian National rail. (CNR)
6.17% | +15.8% | Cenovus energy (CVE)
4.75% | +15.08% | Peyto (PEY)
3.45% | +69.31% | SSRM Mining ( SSRM )
1.34% | -34.16% | Well Health technologies ( WELL )
48.37% | +4.79% | ishares equity (XEQT)
16.28% | -.41% | BMO S&P 500 (ZSP)
My plan is to sell off ALGO and WELL for a small loss ( it was my first buys and didn't know what i was doing) and sell off ZSP once it hits green and move that money into XEQT as they overlap.

I also may sell SSRM as it has been doing great but I would prefer another gas/oil company that pays dividends.

Oh interesting... we are actually holding a LOT of the same tokens... from what you have I also have : XRP XLM SUI HBAR LINK ADA BTC and DOT....
XRP is my biggest bag too (Mostly because it has outperfomed everything else over the last year : it is up 385.5%

The only other tokens I hold are ETH ALGO and FLR...
I had SOL as well but I sold it all when Trump coin dropped (It actually turned out to be the top so perfect timing)... basically I don't trade memes, and the SOL reddit is just full of people shilling memes, and complaining about bots, snipes, presales, pump and dumps, telegram scams and phantom hacks... figured I was well up and would rather put my money elsewhere so pulled it out and waited to buy into the market at other places (sure SOL will still do well but I'm out for now)

I am just wondering if anyone else has done this and what their outcome has been. I recently leverage staked with 1k ALGO a few weeks ago. So far when I go to unstake it says I made -11%. My regular staking is doing pretty good.

I am not a BTC Maxi. It's not about BTC maximalism but about being smart. I love XMR but I don't view it as an investment and there is a huge opportunity cost of holding it instead of BTC long term.
And if you've been in crypto for a while you shouldn't be falling for tech memes. **Only NOOBs fall for the tech memes.**
I've re-posted my comment from 2019 over and over the last few years trying to warn noobs who keep falling for token dump tech memes like DOT, ALGO, AVAX, HBAR, etc all that stupid shit and keep losing money.
> **Top 7 unique, high-potential cryptocurrencies of 2019 that are actually innovating the space** (2019)
> **Nano, Monero, Augur, Lisk, IOTA, BitTorrent, Upfiring**
> You seem to be fixated on tech. Tech means nothing if nobody uses it and if nobody cares. NXT was the most advanced coin in 2013 and still one of the most advanced now. Created by the founder of IOTA, it had a ton going for it. People thought it was like TCP/IP or Linux of blockchains and the future:
> - First coin that was 100% Proof of Stake pioneered by IOTA founder
> - 1.5 minutes block times
> - Java
> - DEX
> - Messaging
> - Assets in the blockchain
> - Programmable APIs
> You should learn from 2015 and stop being naive thinking these the shiny tech cryptos that nobody uses and cares about all are undervalued great investments.
